State Tournament results
2021-2022 was a remarkable Tennis season for The Village School, and we are so proud of the amazing student-athletes for all of their success. Village School Tennis program Qualified a school-record nine student-athletes for the 2022 TAPPS State Tennis Tournament.
Anahita Gozalpour, 11th grade, finished 2nd Place in Girls Singles in TAPPS State Tournament. Anahita continued her impressive HS career with a thrilling 3-hour semifinal match that truly took all of her energy and fight to pull through. Anahita is a true team leader and a tremendous ambassador for Village School. We greatly admire and respect her grit & tenacity, and will to win. With this impressive performance and her phenomenal girls' teammates who qualified for State, Junior Kemi Dada, Girls Singles, Freshman Lauren Maughon & Junior Meghna Prabhakaran in girls doubles, the Village Girls Team finished 3rd in State as a team. It is an outstanding result in the State's toughest division of private school tennis!
Boys Tennis had five (5) student-athletes competing in this year's State tournament, led by Senior Balaji Srikrishna, who had two hard-fought victories, losing to eventual state champion from El Paso in the state semifinals. Balaji competed strongly throughout this season and showed up in big moments for the team!
Senior Liam Brown teamed with Sophomore Innes Maccauley, earning a second consecutive doubles State tennis qualification. The boys took it one step further this year and advanced to the state quarterfinals, dropping a tough matchup vs. a district champion from the Dallas area! Liam & Innes had a huge 2 season stretch. Freshman Alex You teamed with Junior Thomas Lascaud and earned their inaugural State tennis qualification! The boys battled against the defending state champions but dropped a tough straight-set match!
It takes on-court success, off-court team building & full commitment to develop a positive team environment, and a fully committed school administration for students to achieve this level of sustained success at State! Congratulations to the entire Village Tennis program- Students & Parents, Athletics Administration, Village Faculty leadership Team. This is truly a TEAM victory, and we are so proud of everyone involved!! THANK YOU!
