2023 Viking Girls Lacrosse Season Recap
A breakout season highlighted by a historic finish.
The Lady Vikings Lacrosse Team had a breakout season. Despite an unfavorable record, the Lady Vikings advanced to the playoffs for the first time in program history. The Vikings also had a couple of standout team performances; a gritty 7-6 win at home against Atascocita to earn a playoff spot and a playoff game at Emery Weiner where, despite competing against a team the Vikings had already failed to beat twice, they led most of the game before ultimately falling to the Jaguars.
Standout performers on offense were freshman Kaelyn Silas and sophomore Abigail Evans, while seniors Vivian Leger and Liz Walton secured the midfield and defense respectively. Senior Shen Subawalla led the team in goal.
Silas led the team in scoring for the season with 18 goals and also led in turnovers caused. Evans had the highest penalty shot percentage, converting 7 of her 19 (36.8%) penalty shots on the year. Leger led the team in assists for the season while also overwhelmingly leading the team in draw controls at 84, and Walton led the team in ground balls and steals.
Silas, Walton, and Leger were all selected for the TGHSLL South Division 3 All-District Team.
We congratulate the entirety of the Lady Vikings Lacrosse Team and send a special thank you to seniors Regina Blenda Ayala, Margaret Davis, Vivian Leger, Lucia Larrea Ramirez, Shen Subawalla, and Elizabeth Walton for all their hard work and dedicated participation in the Village Lacrosse Program.
