Girls Basketball goes 2-2 in the Leta Andrews Battle on the Bay!
The Village Girls Basketball returned to action from Thanksgiving break, playing 5 games over the week, going 3-2 overall.
In their return from action, they defeated TAPPS 3A #1 ranked Lutheran High North 55-42. In the win, senior captain and point guard Elizabeth Walton had a near triple double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists, and fellow senior captain Amina Djibrine Sy scored 9 points and has 13 rebounds.
Leta Andrews Battle on the Bay!
In their first game in Corpus Christi, the Lady Vikings picked up a win against 6A public Fort Bend Elkins, winning 47-35. Junior Mila Rossini would lead the way with 20 points, while Walton added 13 and Djibrine Sy 7.
In their next two games, the girls would fall to two state ranked 4A public schools. The girls fell to #8 Stephenville 47-35, Rossini led all scorers with 21 points. In the following game against #11 Beeville Jones, the girls fell 49-56 while battling foul trouble all game. Rossini and Walton again led the way, with 24 and 21 respectively.
In the final game of the tournament, and playing their 4th game in less than 48 hours, the girls battled to defeat 4A public La Vernia 35-25. Rossini would lead the way with 15 points, with Walton adding 10 and Djibrine Sy 7. Junior Emily Zaccardo added a 3 point buzzer beater in the win.
Following the conclusion of the games, junior Mila Rossini was named to the All Tournament First Team. Rossini hit a tournament high 19 three-pointers over the course of the tournament and now ranks second amongst all TAPPS players in made three-point shots this season and in the top 30 overall in the state of Texas!
The girls return to action this week with games against Duchesne, Episcopal and playing in the Brookshire Royal Tournament over the weekend!
