Sophomore Evan Cochran Records 1,000th Career Point
It didn't feel quite that real to me. I was so excited yet focused at the time that this was only the beginning." That's what Village Sophomore Evan Cochran had to say after recording his 1,000th point on February 10th. As the tough basket fell through the hoop, Cochran was reflective on his time on the court. "A lot of emotions went through me...but overall, I felt accomplished and thrilled to see how far I've come in my basketball career."
The evening began quite a bit differently, though. "My shots weren't falling at the beginning of [the] game," Cochran recalled. Luckily, though, Cochran always has support on the sideline. "My High School coaches really encouraged me...to [stay] strong and [keep] my head up...In practice and any game, they try to set up times [to] get me the ball because they believe in me and know that I can get a bucket any time in the game. They helped me reach this milestone by pushing me to be the best character and basketball player I can be."
Cochran says his following goals are to "[Be] named 1st Team All-State and 1st Team All-District, [and] hopefully [be] named District MVP as well." He adds that "[he] would really aim to score 2,000 points later in [his] career." With two more years remaining in his high school career, those goals, and many more, are certainly within reach for Evan Cochran.
Catch Evan and the rest of the Village Boys Basketball team as they travel to College Station on Friday, February 17th, to begin their run in the TAPPS playoffs.
