Swim Championship Update
Middle School
The Village Middle School competed in their Championship meet on January 28th. It was an opportunity to race under pressure, learn from mistakes, and step up for teammates. And that is exactly what the team did against some of the strongest middle school programs in Houston.
The boys opened the meet with a strong performance in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, finishing 4th overall in a time of 2:19.75. Christopher Wang, Timofei Dovgilovich, Platon Kuvaev, and Darren Liu executed well and set an early tone for the team.
Several individual swims stood out and reflected the work being done this season. Darren Liu contributed across multiple events, competing in the 100 IM and the anchor in relays performing well for the team. Timofei Dovgilovich raced well in the Boys 100 Freestyle, finishing 5th in a deep and competitive event. Christopher Wang earned a 7th-place finish in the Boys 100 Freestyle, scoring valuable team points.
On the girls’ side, Eloise Dube posted solid swims with a 15th-place finish in the 50 Freestyle and 12th in the 100 Freestyle. Monneli Mojarrad competed across multiple events, finishing 8th in the Girls 50 Backstroke and 11th in the 50 Butterfly.
It was an amazing team effort with 29 swims resulting in a season best or a lifetime best time for the individual swimmer. A few disqualifications throughout the meet provided feedback on areas that need work. These experiences are essential for helping athletes learn how to execute under pressure.
The coaching staff is very proud of all of our swimmers. Not only did they perform well under pressure, they represented The Village School with pride!
