The area title set up a rematch of the 2020 State Championship between Village and Prestonwood Christian for the Regional Championship and a trip to the TAPPS 6A Final Four. The Lady Vikings came out on fire in the first quarter, taking a 19-13 lead behind 7 points from Williams, and 6 each from Rossini and Narahari. Things got tight from there, as the Village lead trimmed to just 26-23 at the half. The third quarter saw Village once again extend their lead, taking the frame 19-15 behind 7 points from Williams, and again 6 each from Rossini and Narahari to put Village ahead 45-38 through three quarters. Prestwood would cut the Village lead to just 2, before Rossini found Oyewole in transition to put Village ahead 54-50 scoring what would be the winning points. Rossini and Williams combined to go 8-10 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter to ice the game and send the Lady Vikings back to the Final Four for the first time since the 2021-2022 season.
The Lady Vikings will take on Ursuline Academy this Thursday, February 29th at 6:00PM at University High School in Waco, TX with a trip to the State Championship game on the line.
