Village Boys Basketball Wins Houston Private School Classic Gold Bracket
The Village boys basketball team brings home some hardware as the season enters its second half.
Over the break, the Village boys basketball team took part in the Houston Private School Classic, culminating in a well-fought 63-50 win over St. Thomas in the gold bracket championship game. The Vikings opened with a disappointing 87-55 loss at the hand of tournament host Second Baptist but were able to regroup and earn a hard-fought 73-71 decision over Lutheran North. The semi-finals saw Village face off against Fort Bend Christian Academy who they defeated 74-70 before taking home the gold in the championship game.
After their opening-day loss, the Vikings averaged 70 points per game to close out the tournament. The team also benefited from the performance of All-Tournament Team honorees Charlie Church and Evan Cochran. Cochran was also named Gold Bracket MVP. The tournament, and its outcome, were a reflection of the team's commitment and collective effort.
Securing the Gold Bracket Championship was an encouraging achievement, reflecting the team's growth and potential as they shift their focus to the back half of the season and district play.

On the scoring front, the team is led by Evan Cochran (20 PPG), Charlie Church (52 3-PTS on 31%), Jesse Imemba (57% eFG), and Myles Herbert (4 APG). Defensively the team is led by Myles Herbert (40 Steals), Jesse Imemba (9 RPG, 30 Deflections), and Evan Cochran (9 RPG, 30 Blocks).
With a current record of 13-12, the Vikings look forward to beginning district play on Friday, January 19th against Central Catholic.
