Varsity Golf Season Recap from Coach DeBakey
The high school golf team concluded it's season at the TAPPS 6A regional golf tournament at Gleannloch Pines on April 9th and 10th by finishing tied for 6th place. Despite not making the state tournament, this season was a valuable learning experience for our young team. The top performers this season were Aidan C who finished with a stroke average of 85.17 and Henrik B with an average of 88.42. Coach DeBakey was proud of the fact many young golfers cut strokes off their game over the course of the season, including freshman Aditya A, who cut twelve strokes and sophomore Hugh L, who cut 20 strokes off. Next year, the Vikings will bring back their entire roster and are looking for key contributions from freshman Cole B and Ashley T. To end the season, the team spent a Saturday morning at the Open Door Mission and East End Food Pantry serving and distributing food to needy families. This was a great way to build team chemistry and help those families in our community. Go Vikings!
