eSports Club at Village Continues to Grow and, Now, Compete!
This past Friday, The Village School's eSports Club took positive steps toward legitimizing its position within the school's athletic department. With the support of Microsoft's Baybrook Mall team, the club successfully ran a 6 team League of Legends single elimination tournament on campus. Matches started on Wednesday evening, and concluded on Friday with two semifinals and a finals match up! Thanks to Microsoft, the students had an opportunity to "play like the pro's", and where able to do so by using some of the latest eSports technology that is in the market. The winning team was VHS eSport who defeated Vietcongese to claim the title. In doing so, they positioned themselves as the top team within the school!
The Village School's eSports club is student lead by president Edmund Pascalis and John Corbett. Additionally, Mr. Ethan Morgan and Michael Walker support the club as faculty advisors. In addition to continuing to run and manage in-house gaming tournaments, the eSports Club will also be participating in the inaugural High School PlayVS season, which is sponsored the National Federation of High School Sports and will give schools the ability to battle for a state championship! Club President, Edmuond Pascalis is confident that the success from this past week's event, as well as the school commitment and support of eSports, will be a differentiator for The Village School.
